Overview/FAQs
- Dermal fillers are substances that can be injected into the soft tissues of the face and body in order to smooth the surface of the skin, push out fine lines and wrinkles, recontour features and/or create volume.
- There are several different types of dermal filler on the market made from various chemicals. Some of these are permanent, and others are semi-permanent.
- At Dr Sehrish Clinics we exclusively use semi-permanent fillers based on Hyaluronic Acid (HA). This is a naturally-occurring compound found in the body which provides essential hydration as well as protection against external stresses and ageing.
- The three main benefits of Hyaluronic Acid fillers are:
- Since HA is naturally-occurring in the body, the risk of allergic reactions is extremely low.
- HA is fully reversible because the enzyme which degrades the compound (which is also found in the body naturally) is kept at hand and is very effective at dissolving the filler. This is useful if you are unsure about your results or wish to have previous work corrected.
- Hyaluronic Acid fillers are available in various densities and are therefore incredibly versatile: Thicker fillers can be used to provide structural support to sagging skin or to recontour facial features like the nose. Thinner, softer fillers are used to gently plump the lips or smooth out deep wrinkles.
- Hyaluronic Acid is laid down in the body where it’s needed and then degraded by the naturally-occurring enzyme, Hyaluronidase. The same is true for fillers so after a while the body’s own enzyme will eventually degrade the filler.
- How quickly this happens depends upon several factors:
- Filler factors: The thicker the filler, the longer it tends to last. For this reason, fillers paced along the jawline tend to last longer than, say, lip filler.
- Patient factors: Age, metabolism, exercise/activity, blood flow to filled area, smoking etc. For example, lip filler in younger patients (who tend to have a faster metabolism and greater blood flow to the face) will likely be broken down at the earlier end of the normal range (6-9 months).
- As a guide, fillers placed in the nose or jawline tend to last around 9-12 months, whereas those used in the lips or tear troughs last between 6-9 months.
- It is important to remember that there is no way to predict this and every patient is different.
- Fillers based on Hyaluronic Acid are reversible. As part of our safety measures, we will always have the enzyme Hyaluronidase at hand and can inject this into the area to dissolve the filler.
- The dissolving process begins as soon as the enzyme is injected, and continues to work over the next 7-10 days. In some cases, a second round of dissolving may be necessary.
- Other fillers such as those based on Silicone are permanent – We do not use these for safety reasons.
- As soon as filler is injected, it occupies space within the tissues so results can be seen immediately.
- It may however take a few weeks for the filler to fully settle and integrate into the surrounding tissues.
- We understand that the majority of people do not seek aesthetic treatments in order to look unrecognisable. The aim, we often hear from our patients, is to subtly enhance the natural features to provide a little confidence boost, or to finally get over a nagging insecurity. For many, this means simply no longer having to overdraw their lips, saving time contouring their cheekbones or nose, or using less concealer under the eyes to hide the tiredness. Others may seek filler or toxin treatments preventatively to delay the ageing process. Whatever the aim of your aesthetics journey, these small changes can make a huge difference to our mood and the way we carry ourselves. This is what it is all about. A good facial aesthetics practitioner will have a working understanding of how to treat each facial feature both in isolation and as part of the whole face to refine and create harmony, while maintaining the natural character and quirks we all have and love.
- At Dr. Sehrish Clinics, our doctors have trained with the best in the industry and brought together the latest techniques from around the world to be able to cater to each specific patient’s needs. Whilst we can deliver more dramatic results when requested, we specialise and take pride in subtle, natural enhancements with minimal post-operative downtime.
All non-surgical aesthetics treatments carry with them an inherent risk profile. The three factors key in mitigating these risks are 1. The practitioner, 2. The techniques used, and 3. The products used.
- Our practitioners: We are a fully-insured doctor-led clinic with combined surgical and clinical experience of over 30 years. With backgrounds in Dental Surgery and further training in several specialist-led advanced technique courses, we have curated a team with unmatched skill and artistic flair.
- Our techniques: Facial aesthetics is a fast-changing industry with opinions and guidelines on safety and best practice constantly being challenged and updated. At Dr Sehrish Clinics we place great emphasis on continued professional development in order to keep up with these changes to be able to provide our patients with the very latest safe and evidence-based techniques.
- Our products: We only use the top five brands of approved, high quality Hyaluronic Acid-based fillers. These are fully reversible, have a great safety profile and have been used for decades without any issues. These fillers are also dissolvable using the naturally-occurring enzyme Hyaluronidase, which we always keep at hand should we need it.
Some of the risks from dermal fillers include but are not limited to: Injection risks (pain, bleeding, bruising swelling), risk of infection, and allergic reactions. These are extremely rare. If you are concerned, please discuss this with your practitioner before booking.
- Pain from injectable treatments varies depending upon the area being treated and individual patient’s pain threshold. Our aim is to help you feel as comfortable as possible by numbing the area being treated. This will ensure you have a more pleasant experience, and also helps us do our job to the best of our ability.
- As a bare minimum, topical anaesthetic cream is always used to numb the area being treated. The fillers we use also contain local anaesthetic so the area will become more numb as we inject.
- In addition to this, at Dr Sehrish Clinics we take full advantage of the broad skills profiles of our practitioners who are all qualified Dental Surgeons. As such, we also offer patients a dental block (the injection you’d get at the dentists before a filling) when treated areas such as the lips. This is a quick injection which goes inside the mouth and produces a complete numbing effect as well as constricts the local blood vessels to prevent bleeding and bruising. This is especially useful where topical cream does not fully penetrate the full thickness of the tissues.
Dermal Filler
- The facial structures are very highly vascularised and as such, swelling and bruising is the most common side effect from dermal fillers. These side effects are most noticeable during the first 48 hours post-treatment and gradually resolve over the next 2 weeks.
- No practitioner can guarantee that this will not happen as it is impossible to predict and depends on various patient factors such as age, how prone you are to bruising etc.
- The treatments most commonly associated with swelling and bruising are lip fillers, however our doctors use specialist techniques which allow us to minimise these side effects as much as possible. Needle techniques, although causing more tissue trauma and therefore swelling/bruising, are great for enhancing lip On the other hand, cannula techniques can be used where appropriate to minimise tissue trauma and enhance lip volume. Our doctors will choose which techniques are most appropriate on a case-by-case basis and advise patients on post-operative instructions to help minimise side effects.
- Well-placed dermal fillers in the rest of the face
Toxin Treatments
- The most common side effect from toxin treatments is bruising, which is most likely to happen around the eyes (e.g. crows-feet treatment) since the skin is thinnest here.
- Having said that, in the majority of toxin cases there is very little downtime and many of our patients pop in during their lunch breaks as the procedure is so quick and the needle marks easy to overlook.
- should be largely undetectable.

TEAR TROUGH TREATMENT

Topical cream
- The non-surgical tear trough correction is a specialist treatment which is ideal for patients wanting to address the dark circles under their eyes. These are caused by a combination of two factors: Dark pigmentation to the delicate skin under the eyes, and hollows which form under the eyes due to loss of volume resulting in a shadow. The latter can be corrected by dermal fillers.
- A thorough consultation with our surgeons is key in the treatment of tear troughs as it is necessary to assess the area in person to determine whether you are a good candidate for this procedure. Our surgeons will be looking at your skin elasticity, will feel the skin and assess the fat pads, assess how much of the darkness under the eyes is due to hollows vs. pigmentation, discuss your specific concerns and aims, and based on these make a treatment plan tailored to your needs.
- Our surgeons use a combination of needle and specialist cannula techniques are used to produce seamless results. As the filler is injected under the skin, the overlying tissues regain the support that was lost resulting in improving the shadow effect under the eyes.
- In some cases we may find that the hollows under the eyes need to be addressed alongside other factors which may not be obvious, such as loss of volume of the cheeks. If this is the case we will discuss this with you and treat both areas in conjunction with one another to produce the best possible results.
- It is important to understand that some cases are not appropriate for dermal filler treatment and can only be corrected surgically. Our experienced surgeons will always advise you where this is the case as placing dermal filler in surgical cases can often exacerbate the problem.

LIQUID RHINOPLASTY
PRICE
£450
Age
18+ only
TREATMENT TIME

PAIN MANAGEMENT
Topical cream
- The non-surgical or “liquid” Rhinoplasty is an advanced specialist procedure in which dermal filler is carefully placed under the skin of the nose to recontour the shape and balance the side profile with little to no downtime.
- An initial consultation is key as it will allow our experienced team of surgeons to conduct a thorough assessment and advise you if dermal fillers are an appropriate treatment option for you, or if you would benefit more from going down the surgical rhinoplasty route.
- The liquid Rhinoplasty procedure can be tailored to suit each individual patient’s needs whether this is to straighten the bridge of the nose, lengthen the bridge, smooth out dips and bumps, improve asymmetries and/or to lift the tip.
- In some cases our surgeons may suggest the use of muscle-relaxing toxin prior to the dermal filler treatment in order to relax muscles around the nose which may prevent the tip from lifting sufficiently, or which may be causing the nose to flare excessively. This will be discussed in detail with you during your consultation.
- Dermal fillers tend to last longer in the nose area as it is a region of very little movement and thicker filler is used here. As such, your liquid Rhinoplasty should last between 9 to 18 months (dependent on patient factors).
- Please refer to our FAQs above for more filler-related information.
CHEEK AUGMENTATION
PRICE
From £280
Age
18+ only
TREATMENT TIME

PAIN MANAGEMENT
Topical cream
- Dermal fillers can be placed in the midface region to enhance the contour of the cheekbones and/or the fullness at the apples to restore volume and create harmony with the rest of the face.
- Our surgeons use premium filler products and a combination of needle and cannula techniques to help enhance the natural curves of the face to create more youthful contours.
- In some cases, cheek fillers are done in conjunction with nasolabial (smile line) filler or tear trough filler to produce smoother transitions between these areas.
- Cheek fillers can also be used to create a point of anchorage higher up in the face in order to help create a subtle lifting effect across the jawline and jowls.
- For those wanting a subtle effect, 1ml of premium filler is divided across both sides, and for those patients who wish to have a more dramatic result, 1ml is placed each side.
- During your consultation, our surgeons will assess the areas of the face where volume has been lost or where an enhancement of the cheekbones might be beneficial. It is very easy to over treat this area and it takes an artistic eye to be able to treat the midface in the appropriate way to produce subtle yet undeniable results which are in harmony with the face overall.
- Please refer to our FAQs above for more filler-related information.
JAWLINE/CHIN AUGMENTATION
PRICE
From £240
Age
18+ only
TREATMENT TIME
20 minutes
PAIN MANAGEMENT
Topical cream
- As a specialist team of dental surgeons, our practitioners at Dr Sehrish Clinics are adept at assessing the facial and skeletal features and pinpointing subtle regions of imbalance, which when treated, produce some of the most dramatic effects we see in clinic. The chin is one such area.
- By assessing the patients’ upper and lower jaw relationships as well as the soft tissues in the side profile, we often find that patients may have what we call a “weak chin”. With careful placement of 1-2ml of high density filler in this area, we are able to transform the side profile of the patient, smooth out heaviness in the jowls, tighten the jawline and overall help the other facial features sit together more harmoniously. For example, we often get patients who complain that their nose is too big, when in reality from the side profile it is the chin that is sitting too far back. Once this is corrected, the size of the nose is no longer an issue.
- In male patients also, the chin is often an area we address alongside the jawline for a more masculinising contour to the face.
- The jawline, much like the cheekbones, is an area we treat with high density filler in order to provide support and structure to the overlying skin, helping to create a smoothing and lifting effect. This is useful in treating the jowls or heaviness under the jawline. For those wanting a subtle effect, 2ml of premium filler is divided across both sides of the jaw, and for those patients who wish to have a more dramatic result, 2ml is placed each side.
- Please refer to our FAQs above for more filler-related information.

- Botulinum toxin, Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin® are neurotoxins produced by the bacterium Clostridium A.
- Botulinum toxin can be used to relax the muscles on areas of the face and neck which cause wrinkles associated with facial expressions such as horizontal forehead lines, vertical frown lines between the brows or crows feet at the outer corners of the eyes.
- The toxin is diluted to a very controlled solution and when injected into the muscles with a very thin needle, it is almost painless. Patients may feel a slight burning sensation while the solution is being injected.
- The procedure takes about 15 minutes and the results can last up to 3 months. With repeated treatments, the results may tend to last longer. We do not recommend repeating toxin treatments within 3 months.

FAT DISSOLVING

Local and Topical
- Fat dissolving injections or “injection lipolysis” is a minimally-invasive medical procedure used for targeting small pockets of stubborn face around the face and body. It is one of the most popular fat reduction options available due to its short treatment time and relatively little down time.
- The fat dissolving agent can be used under the chin, arms, stomach, hips, thighs, knees and ankles. It is a very effective option for contouring the body, but should not be used as a treatment for weight loss.
- The area to be treated is disinfected and topical anaesthetic cream is applied. Local anaesthetic is then either directly injected into the area or mixed into the fat dissolving agent. A cannula is then used to deposit the agent into the area of fat.
- The agent works by dissolving the cell membranes of the fat cells, causing the fatty acids held within to be released and ultimately eliminated by the agents of the immune system.
- We use a variety of different fat dissolving agents including but not limited to Kybella and Aqualyx.
